Jean Monnet Chair Programme
The Jean Monnet Chair Programme at the DIS/GSIS, Korea University is a part of the Jean Monnet Programme, which is funded by the European Commission and aims at stimulating teaching, research and reflection in the field of European integration studies at the level of higher education institutions within and outside the European Community. The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission is the managing organization of the programme. The Jean Monnet Programme has been launched in 1989, and is now present in 72 countries throughout the world.
The Jean Monnet Chair Programme forms one of key activities of the Jean Monnet Programme. So far, approximately 880 Jean Monnet Chair Professors have been nominated worldwide. As of September 2013, the European Commission has appointed Professor Sung-Hoon Park of GSIS, Korea University the fourth Jean Monnet Chair Professor in Korea. Within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair Programme, Professor Sung-Hoon Park offers at least one regular EU-related course every semester, and will convene a number of related activities, such as special lectures, workshops and seminars. The Jean Monnet Chair Programme at the DIS/GSIS, Korea University will be operated in a close coordination with the versatile activities of the KU-KIEP-SBS EU Centre (www.ku-kiep-sbs.org), which is another major fund granted by the European Commission to foster EU studies at Korea University.
