MA International Studies (Area Studies)

This two-year program offers students the opportunity to develop a deep and broad understanding of issues related to a variety of regions. Some exemplary courses include: Contemporary North America, Contemporary East Asia, Contemporary Europe, Understanding East Asian Civilization, East Asian Economies, The U.S. Economy, European Economies, International Relations of North America, International Relations of East Asia, International Relations of Europe/Russia, and Korea-U.S. Relations.

The area studies program at KUGSIS is divided into European Studies and East Asian Studies:

European Studies

This sub-program offers students with a series of courses to provide them with an in-depth analysis and evaluation of government policies and multi-lateral relations related to European countries. The ways of teaching in the courses vary: lectures; research seminars; simulation exercises; workshops; and meeting with invited specialists. Some related exemplary courses are EU Economy, Trade & Investment in the EU, Politics of the Korea-EU Relations, and Special Topics in Russian Studies.

East Asian Studies

The sub-program of the East Asian Studies provides a list of courses for students to analyze and assess one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing socio-economic and political systems in the world. Some exemplary courses are East Asian Economy, East Asian Trade & Investment, Environment & Development in China/East Asia, and Korea & APEC.
