Tuition Fee & Scholarship

The applicant who holds a bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree for Doctor program application)
A) A foreign national whose parents also have foreign nationality or
B) A Korean who has completed entire education courses with 16 years of school education, equivalent to an elementary school, middle school, high school and university in a foreign country. (Certificates of all school graduation and official transcripts should be submitted.)

Supporting document submission
- Once you submit online application, please submit the following documents to KUGSIS office by Nov 15/May 15 for the complete application:
* Required Materials:
1. Online Application Result Page
2. Certificate of Degree (or Certificate of Expected Graduation) of all colleges and graduate schools (should be written in English)
3. Official transcripts of all colleges and graduate schools (should be SEALED by the issuing institution and written in English)
* Eligibility B For Korean who completed entire education courses with 16 years of school education:
- Elementary School Transcript and graduation certification
- Middle School Transcript and graduation certification
- High School Transcript and graduation certification
4. A copy of passport
* Eligibility A For overseas Korean whose parents also have foreign nationality:
- Copy of each parents' passport
5. Two letters of recommendation (Download Available), from professors familiar with the applicant's academic work, or from professional supervisors.
6. A Statement of Purpose: The essay must be 1,200 words (3 pages).
7. TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS score report(Original):
- Native speakers of English or those who graduated from the university which all courses are conducted in English are exempt from this requirement.
- TOEFL score report: please write down your "ID and Password" for the check-up.
8. Application fee of US $80 or KRW80,000
* Fee payment method: - Enclose the Bank Check Payable to KU GSIS office
- Pay in cash to KU GSIS office directly

9. Certificate of the Bank Deposit

- As for Chinese: for the visa issuance, the term of Validity should be valid by the end June for those who are entering Spring semester / by the end of December for those who are entering Fall Semester.)

SCHOLARSHIP for KU GSIS International Students

KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship A/B POSCO Asian Fellow sponsored by POSCO TJ Park Foundation

Application process No separate application required:
All international applicants for KU GSIS are automatically considered as a candidate for International Students Scholarship.
No separate application required:
Any Asian students who will be ranked top four of the admission score will be automatically considered as a POSCO Asian Fellow.
Selection Process Scholarship award for the first semester will be decided according to the admission score ranked by KU GSIS Admission Committee and announced upon the notice of the admission result, in Dec 15(June 15). Apply for KU GSIS Master Program → KU Admission committee review and recommend the candidates to POSCO foundation → POSCO foundation select the fellow → Notify fellow in June 15, 2012.
Award
  • KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship A: 100% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
    KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship B: 50% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
During four semesters:
  • 100% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
  • KRW 1,000,000 per month as a living expense
Conditions for Scholarship renewal
  • Renewal Condition:
      - Maintain GPA 3.5 or above
      - Cannot take Leave of Absence from school during whole program
  • As for the consecutive semester, scholarship type (A/B) will be decided based on the previous semester GPA’s ranking among int’l students.
Maintain GPA 3.5 or above
Submit activity report and thesis to POSCO foundation
Participate in any POSCO events
