Majors and Degree Programs

- Master’s Degree Program: International Studies or Korean Studies
Tracks: International Studies (International Peace and Security, International Development and Cooperation, International Commerce and Area Studies) and Korean Studies

Apply for Visa Issuance

· Visa(D2) document: KUGSIS issues the Certificate of Admission(표준입학허가서 ) and mail it to the student

Scholarships for KUGSIS International Students

KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship A/B POSCO Asian Fellow sponsored by POSCO TJ Park Foundation

Number of Fellow Int’l students who are admitted to KUGSIS Master/Doctor program(Subject to change) Four students per year
Semester Every semester(application period: 4/1-4/30 or 10/1-10/31) Every commencing Fall Semester(application period: 3/15-5/15)
Application process No separate application required: International applicants for KU GSIS are automatically considered as a candidate for International Students Scholarship. No separate application required:Any Asian students who will be ranked top four of the admission score will be automatically considered as a POSCO Asian Fellow.
Selection Process Scholarship award for the first semester will be decided according to the admission score ranked by KU GSIS Admission Committee and announced upon the notice of the admission result, in Dec 15(June 15). Apply for KU GSIS Master Program → KU Admission committee review and recommend the candidates to POSCO foundation → POSCO foundation select the fellow → Notify fellow in June 15, 2012.
  • KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship A (Top 25% ranked, outstanding grades among KUGSIS Int’l Students): 100% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
  • KU GSIS Int’l Students Scholarship B (Top 26% ~ 75% ranked, outstanding grades among KUGSIS Int’l Students) : 50% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
During four semesters:

  • 100% of the tuition (including Admission Fee)
  • KRW 1,000,000 per month as a living expense
Conditions for Scholarship renewal
  • Minimum Condition:- Maintain GPA 3.75 or above every semester (effective for those who enter into KUGSIS from the Spring semester 2016)- Cannot take Leave of Absence from school during whole program
  • As for the consecutive semester, scholarship type (A/B) will be decided based on the previous semester GPA’s ranking among KUGSIS int’l students.
